DEBORAH SIEGEL-ACEVEDO PhD ACC founded Bold Voice Collaborative in November 2020. Prior to that, she established the public platform consultancy GIRL MEETS VOICE, INC. to help lift the voices of those with needed messages and the desire to be heard. She brings to this work a background in narrative studies and a special interest in amplifying under-represented voices in public spaces. A PhD in English and American Literature with an emphasis on gender studies, she is an Adjunct Faculty member in the College of Communication at DePaul University and a certified coach through the International Coach Federation. She has frequently lead The OpEd Project’s Public Voices Fellowship program at DePaul and has been coaching speakers for TEDxDePaulUniversity and other TEDx events for the past six years.
Mentor, champion, thought partner, and guide, Deborah herself is a TEDx speaker and the author of two books (Sisterhood, Interrupted, with Palgrave Macmillan, and Only Child, with Random House). She is currently working on a collection of essays about the ways we raise (and gender) girls and boys. Her work has been featured in venues including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, CNN.com, Slate, The Huffington Post, Ms., Psychology Today, TriQuarterly, in multiple anthologies, and at live lit performances throughout Chicago.
Before moving to Chicago in 2012, Deborah worked as a content consultant for social enterprise and national nonprofits in New York City for over a decade, where she also co-founded SheWrites.com, the largest online platform for women who write.
