BOLD VOICE CIRCLE MASTERMIND GROUPS - Dec. 6, 2021 - Apr. 4, 2022

Join us in boldly embracing a season of creative replenishing, resetting, healing, and reimagining.

A Bold Voice Circle is for women+* with stories and ideas who are ready to “mastermind” with others in order to launch their words (via essay, op-ed, blog, book proposal, podcast, signature talk, website, social media presence, etc.) out of their heads and into the world.

Through our 16-week program, in curated groups of 4, you’ll leverage the power of collaborative thought partnership and accountability through the fiercely supportive method established by Deborah Siegel-Acevedo, mentor/author/teacher/coach.

Think of it as a supported sprint for a burst of creative work.
Set your bold voice dreams free.

A Personal Invitation from Deborah

If it hadn't been for Heather and Daphne, I likely never would have published a word. I was far too insecure, and the critical voices inside my head were LOUD.

But sitting across from these two at a back table at the old Cosi at 6th Avenue and 13th Street, making my chai last for hours and sneaking in the previous night's leftovers for lunch, I finished my dissertation and wrote my first op-ed. Heather wrote myriad articles and book reviews. Daphne wrote her first novel.

Later, sitting next to Katie on the regular and munching on pommes frites, I rewrote that dissertation line by line and turned it into a book. With Daphne again, I co-edited an anthology. Miriam and Shawna helped me muster courage for my TEDx talk. Anything I've published, I've run by peers first. During the pandemic, I'd call a writing friend during my walk by the lake, nibble a square from my favorite dark chocolate bar, then channel that friend and go write in my car office (away from the kiddos, who were doing remote school).

I've always said, "Friends don't let friends write alone." It's a tenet we held dear when creating SheWrites, and it's the core belief powering Bold Voice Collaborative now.

Only with the encouragement of a community and a true sense of in-it-togetherness have I EVER been able to set writing goals and actually follow through.

Only with affirmation from voices outside my head am I EVER able to silence the Inner Critic (and believe me, mine is a bitch).

My mode of being is to offer others what I know works. Since those days at Cosi, I've guided hundreds of writers, speakers, established thought leaders, and emerging changemakers toward achieving their public voice goals. Books, op-eds, and essays have been written and published, TEDx talks have been delivered, blogs and websites launched. When words reach audiences, dreams are realized, doors and hearts open. Lives change.

If you're bursting with words, but for whatever reason stuck, I implore you: don't go it alone.

Pull up a chair. Grab some coffee or tea. (Also chocolate, if that's your jam.)
It'd be my honor to help guide you.

There are rare times in a career when a collaboration is a game changer. Working with Deborah and the Mastermind Group is one of those collabs, providing clarity, a road map, inspiration, and the confidence to develop and expand my public voice. What a gift to have smart, insightful, savvy, caring and fun thought partners during a pandemic, especially as we navigate new waters in work and life. This program is a highly valuable tool in one’s toolbox for reaching and exploring the power of one’s voice.

Nancy Harris

I truly appreciate the connections and the small intimate group. It allowed me to get very specific feedback that I'm not sure would be possible in a larger format. I've been able to move forward with sharing my voice more on social platforms. I've learned the importance of incorporating my voice and opinion in what I share.

Bold Voice Circles are lovingly designed to help you sustain momentum, give and receive feedback, and make your voice heard.

The first month's payment is required to reserve your spot.

After you enroll, please fill out this brief intake questionnaire.

Once we identify a cohort for you, we'll reach out by email to find a time for the Zooms that works for the group.

A limited number of groups run each session. Once those groups fill, we keep a Waiting List for the next session's cohorts.

To Your Voice,

FAQ

Q: What exactly is a mastermind circle?

A:   According to The Success Alliance, a mastermind group is "a peer-to-peer mentoring group used to help members solve their problems with input and advice from the other group members combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability and support in a group setting."  The facilitator helps the group dive deeply into discussions and works with members to create success. But everyone in the group get to brainstorm together (sharing knowledge, insights and best practices).

"The group requires commitment, confidentiality, willingness to both give and receive advice and ideas, and support each other with total honesty, respect and compassion. Mastermind group members act as catalysts for growth, devil’s advocates and supportive colleagues. This is the essence and value of mastermind groups.  Each meeting has a mastermind group agenda so that conversations stay on course. The Facilitator is tasked with making sure that conversations are deep and balanced, and that all mastermind group meeting agenda items are covered in the time allotted."

Q: How is a Bold Voice Circle different from a writing class, a writing group, or group coaching?

A:  It’s not a class. "While your group can vote to bring in guest speakers and teachers occasionally, the main focus of a mastermind group is the brainstorming and accountability support among the group members."

It’s not group coaching. "Mastermind groups are about the MEMBERS sharing with each other, not about the Facilitator coaching individuals in a group setting. You get everyone’s feedback, advice and support. If the Facilitator is an expert on the topic, by all means, they will chime in. But they will also work to keep the conversation balanced between all members."

Q: What role will the Deborah play in my Bold Voice Circle?

A: Deborah sends an agenda to Circle members ahead of each Zoom call. She serves as moderator during the calls. When it's time for the designated Circle member to be in "the hotseat" during the call, Deborah shares feedback and guidance. Between Zoom calls, she sends a monthly email with inspiration and tips, as well as reminders about what's happening each week. Each month, Circle members can post digestible chunks of work-in-progress (up to 1,000 words) for Deborah--and the other members--to review. Additionally, each member may send Deborah 2 pieces for her more dedicated feedback over the course of the 4 months.

Q: Who else will be in my circle?

A: We will try our best to match you with others working in your genre and/or with similar goals. In a curated group of four, plus Deborah, you’ll give and receive feedback, learn from each other, and support each other as you go. If we cannot identify a Circle that's right for you, we will put you on the Waitlist and contact you as soon as we find a group for you.

Q: I get that we can post up to 1,000 words each month for our fellow members and Deborah to respond to in our private online forum. But what counts as "a piece" that we can send to Deborah, on top of that, for a more in-depth review?

A: An op-ed, a blog post, an essay, a section of a book proposal, an excerpt from a book-in-progress. A written talk, a newsletter, an "About" for your website. Any one of these counts as "a piece." The word-count cap for each piece sent to Deborah is 2,000 words. Pieces are to be sent to Deborah as either Google docs or Word docs, via email. Again, each member can send a max of 4,000 words (in 2 chunks) for Deborah's in-depth review over the 4 months.

Q: What kind of support is offered ?

A: In addition to the 4 synchronous Zoom sessions and the editorial review detailed above, Deborah sends out a Monthly Missive with tailored tips and inspiration. She works individually with each circle member during a private 1:1 coaching session scheduled at your convenience during the 4-month session. Circle Members use a Discussion Board to check in and mastermind on tactics, resources, and process as well.

Q: Can I book additional 1:1 coaching time with Deborah during or after the program?

A: Circle members can request one additional hour-long 1:1 coaching session with Deborah during any given month, for $275/hour. If you’d like to continue with coaching sessions combined with editorial review after the 4-month period ends, Deborah takes on a limited number of new clients through her Girl Meets Voice Thought Partnership Program.

Q: When is payment due?

A:  The first month's payment is required to hold your spot. If for any reason you find you are not able to participate in the current session, please let us know ASAP. Your payment will guarantee you a spot in the next session's cohort.

Q: I'm trying to decide whether a Bold Voice Circle is right for me. May I set up an exploratory call to find out more?

A: Absolutely! Schedule a 30-min call with Deborah here. (Select "Let's Chat," then select "Exploratory Call" to find a time that mutually aligns.)
